Private In-Home Lessons
Private lessons are available for dogs and puppies any age - start training the day you get them. And don’t hesitate! Old dogs really can learn new tricks (or break old habits). Dogs learn best in their home environment where distractions and stress will be less likely to interfere with training.
* Lessons can cover such topics as: House training, toys & games, dog communication, crate training, grooming, body handling, calming, leash training, confidence building, and food handling.
* Behavioral issues: destructive behavior, barking, digging, separation anxiety, aggression, fearfulness, and sibling rivalry.
* Basic commands: sit, down, stay, come, off, quiet, wait, drop it, leave it.
* Dog manners: food stealing, jumping up, chasing games (stealing your sock and running off with it), door & car manners, and acceptable attention seeking behaviors.
* Fun tricks: shake, roll-over, back it up, spin, bow, hula hoop jumping, and the “leave treat on the paw” trick.
* New Dog Selection: Thinking about getting a dog but you’re not sure which one will fit in best with your family. Selecting the right breed (or mixed breed) and personality of your new dog is a critical first step in creating a bond that will last a lifetime, so be sure you do it right.
(Also - learn what to look for in a reputable breeder, the problems you may face with “pet store” dogs, or how a shelter/rescue dog can be a wonderful addition to your family.)
Private lessons are held in your home, and I travel anywhere in the Salt Lake City and surrounding areas (includes Cottonwood Heights, Holladay, Sandy, Draper, West Jordan, West Valley, North and South Salt Lake, etc.). Lessons are available on weekday evenings and Saturdays to fit your schedule.
Rates: $60 per hour or $100 for a two-hour lesson.
Whether you would like a one-time lesson to discuss a specific issue, or you would like to explore on-going lessons, we can work out a great training plan for your dog today! Give me a call at (801) 885-3922 or email me at info@skyesdogtraining.com .

Canine Good Citizen Class & Testing (prerequisite Beginning Pet Manners or Puppy Kindergarten or equivalent)
Get your dog Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certified! It is the first step in getting your dog ready to be a therapy dog (after basic training of course) and also great for any dog to show off their social skills and training.
Started in 1989, CGC is a certification program that is designed to reward dogs with recognition who have good manners at home and in the community. The Canine Good Citizen Program is a program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. Please see the AKC website for more information at www.akc.org, search for CGC.
This five-week course will prepare you and your dog for taking the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. We will have four weeks of instruction, training & practice. Then on week five the test will be given (optional). Even if you decide not to test, the class is still great for improving walking on leash skills, meeting strangers, grooming, and more.
If you feel your dog can already pass the CGC test without taking the class, you are welcome to attend the testing on week five for a $15 fee.
Fee for course: $100 (1 hour classes, 4 week course, testing week 5)
Canine Good Citizen classes will be scheduled this fall..
